In light of the recent atrocities involving extreme childhood abuse in the Malaysian media involving Malaysians. As an individual parent, Wanita ISMA feels that this is nothing less than a call to dakwah for every single muslim out there… not just to protect our children from being abused, but also to protect them from becoming an abuser.

For the tentacles of evil does not pick its trait… boy or girl, man or woman, young and old, weak and strong, sons of kings or paupers, Imperial college or ‘sekolah pondok’… evil is everywhere! Heck! Porn is at the mercy of your fingertips!

As a member of a community, these heinous crimes are also a big warning. Signaling us to realize how oxymoronic and flawed liberalism and human rights are as a system of belief. By tirelessly clamoring for the freedom to excercise an individual right over the interests of the community (be it negative, disagreeble or ultimately out of societal norms), human rights activists are indicating that EVERYTHING and ANYTHING is okay, is permissible, and will eventually be acceptable.

In the name of modernity and moderation; calling it the new Islam, we have allowed these beliefs to seep into our community. Now that these incidents have occured, do we still want to feign surprise?

Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not. And when it is said to them, “believe as the people have believed,”they say, “Should we believe as the foolish have believed?” Unquestionably, it is they who are foolish, but they know (it) not. (Al-Baqarah 12-13)

First the homosexuals want to put forth their claim…. no make it even before that: the right to wear skimpy clothes or the right to be a mak nyah in public.

They say it’s their inherent nature, and sexual acts are carried out behind closed doors anyway… sure… then If eventually one day pedophilia becomes an accepted human right, will we be able to accept it? Sick as it may sound pedophilia is currently categorized as a mental illness… there are even conflicting views on what makes it a crime versus an addiction.

Will we let this one slide? Just as we had for mak nyahs dressing up in public not too long ago? Are we going to ‘tolerate’ this? Nauzubillahi minzaalik.

imperial studentSo what is our best way forward? As parents, our obligations are also towards our nephews and nieces and the children at the playground, the children of the ‘taman’ we live in… the children of the school our children go to. Enough with the ‘jangan jaga tepi kain orang’ mentality. We are ALL of one family. ‘Melentur buluh biar dari rebungnya’. It is everybody s business to be concerned for everybody s children! For everybody’s children make up the community your child will live in!!

And let there be [arising] from you a nation inviting to [all that is] good, enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong, and those will be the successful. Ali Imran 104

Spread dakwah, be concerned, ask for guidance, give guidance, reach out, offer help, listen more. CARE! This is the perfect time and place to practice everything the prophet has preached about love.

Secondly and no less important than the first, is to learn about liberalism, to identify the shapes and voices it impersonates lest we mistakenly lend our voice to the voices of jahiliyyah. The call to adopt only what is deemed to be relevant aspects of religion ie in matters of ibadah and marriage, and to take up liberal opinions for other matters eg. legal matters etc is a call to separate us from the true Islam.

The prophet didn’t change the world by adopting the laws of Jahiliyyah nor did he by marrying pagan laws with the Syari’ah.. Islam was brought down with divine laws to REPLACE man made laws. With tauheed as the core of the syari’ah, it is the only answer to our conundrum.

And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His way. This has He instructed you that you may become righteous. (Al An’am 153)

Finally, may the painful lessons we reap from these incidents make us better men and women for the sake of our children and our children’s children.

No matter how many hundreds of child abuse we see or hear day to day, it is of no indication whatsoever to trust our ‘aql over the omnipresence of Islamic law.
