Singapore: Betrayals and the Malay community’s weakness

pap spore
THERE are some problems with the Malay community in Singapura.

But it is not what the PAP claims it to be.

The PAP’s view of the Malay community is that we are lazy, stupid, culturally and genetically deficient.

We are told that we are poorer because of our own flaws.

And in order to progress, we need to stop being Malays.

We need to become more Chinese.

This narrative has been played for decades. And it continues.

It seeks to remove any trace of Malayness in the public sphere, promote Chinese supremacy in Singapura and force Malays to become not merely Chinese, but PAP Chinese.

And there are some Malays who do that.

As Michael Barr argued, the main function of PAP Malay MPs is to get the Malays to assimilate into Chineseness.

These Malays will promote the idea that Malays are weak.

And the solution for them is for Malays to become PAP Chinese.

Even though various studies have shown that Malay underachievement is largely influenced by PAP discrimination.

From education to employment, the PAP’s discriminatory practices have caused terrible hardship to the Malay community.

But while it is expected that the PAP, as a Chinese party, seeks to promote their own interests, what boggles the mind is how the Malays who are involved with the PAP support their narrative too.

Many PAP Malays (whether MP or not) will keep quiet or support their party when Islam is attacked, when the religion is insulted, when Muslims are discriminated.

But when PAP is questioned and challenged by Muslims, they will be at the front line to defend their party.

When a Muslimah in hijab is discriminated, they will tell her to stop making a fuss.

They will try to distract the discussion.

They will tell her to not question the party because it becomes political.

Even when the discrimination is caused by the party.

But when Lee Kuan Yew insulted Islam by saying it is a “venomous religion”, when he insult Malays as being genetically deficient, when he demand Muslims to stop practicing Islam fully…

These PAP Malays will keep quiet or support him.

If these PAP Malays had shown half as much loyalty to the community as they do to the PAP, a lot of our problems would have been solved.

But instead of choosing to stand with us, they choose to stand with those who abuse us.

And this is our problem.

It is not that we are culturally or genetically deficient.

The Malays have a beautiful and strong culture.

There is nothing wrong with our culture or our genes.

In fact, for those who truly get to know the Malays, they often marvel at how amazing we are.

That is not our problem.

The community is strong and wonderful.

Our problem is the existence of Malays who are disloyal to their community.

Malays who take up leadership positions and then betray the ummah.

Malays who are loyal to the PAP at the detriment of Islam.

If these PAP Malays are to remain relevant and legitimate, they need to start showing some loyalty to the community.

Speak up when the community is insulted.

Challenge discriminatory policies.

Show leadership against abuses.

Stop acting like PAP mouthpieces.

Stop being tiny fishes in the PAP pond.

You want to be leaders?

Show us you deserve to be.
